Job Title: Senior Cocoa Expert

Job Description:

  • Develop innovative cocoa-based solutions and applications for Asian customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new products and technologies, and enhance the company's Asia ingredient portfolio in terms of functionality and value.
  • Leverage expertise in core cocoa specialists to build solutions for customers.
  • Create new or improved ingredients and technologies for products to increase sales and customer stickiness.
  • Identify opportunities through ingredients expertise to drive growth in butter and liquor sales.
  • Lead R&D efforts to develop new cocoa-based products such as new blends of liquors, butters, powders, Cocoa nib and pulp-based sweeteners, etc.

Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD degree in Food Technology or Food Chemistry. An MBA or equivalent commercial qualification is desirable.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in Product Development/R&D in the B2B or B2C cocoa or chocolate industry, with a minimum of 13-17 years of experience.
  • Expertise in ingredient functionality and complex food systems, with a track record of transforming ideas into bespoke concepts.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining professional relationships with customers, including giving presentations at all levels.
  • Leadership skills to drive regional innovation strategies with tangible actions and KPIs.
  • Mastering the food development process from customer inspiration to winning customer projects, with excellent understanding of ingredient functionality, great tasting product development, analytical methodologies, and sensory science.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to inspire teams to go the extra mile.
  • Passion for innovative ingredients, food or beverage products, and technologies in the beverage, dairy, and ice category.
  • Integrity, inclusivity, and respect for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and social skills, with proficiency in spoken and written English and any other Asian languages an advantage.
  • This position requires frequent travel (30%).
