Job Purpose: Perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient, and timely distribution of drugs in NUH. Assist the senior pharmacist in charge to supervise pharmacy support staff and coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement. Dispense medicines to patients according to department policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Pharmacy operational duties: processing medication orders, picking, packing, and labeling medicines according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), performing medication reconciliation steps such as counting, sorting, and typing prescriptions, and performing billing functions.
  • Automation management: deblistering drugs from primary packaging (IPAS and OPAS), manual and automated unit dose repackaging, resolving repackaging problems, overseeing automation processes, ensuring correct setup of automated dispensing cabinets, resolving system transaction issues, managing external vendor products, recommending process improvements, and managing outsourced vendors.
  • Provision of quality customer service: providing professional and courteous service to all patients/customers.
  • Performing clinical duties (to assist pharmacists): handling nurse request orders, dispensing medications, providing bedside counseling (inpatient), assisting in outpatient sales under supervision, supervising dispensing workflow, and ensuring compliance with policies and conducting regular audits.
  • Inventory management: ensuring proper stock levels and storage, topping up Omnicell ward stock, pre-packing medications, receiving goods correctly, and carrying out cycle counts.
  • Security management: maintaining active security systems, ensuring stock and information security, being alert to security concerns, and taking preventive actions.

Job Requirements:

  • Fresh Diploma Graduate in Pharmaceutical Science or minimum 3 years pharmacy-related experience in Singapore preferred.
  • Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC), Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science, or a foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council).
  • Completed Basic Skill Test or CPTC.
  • Completed NUHS Medication Management Course for Pharmacy Technicians (for clinical duties).
  • Possess Aseptic Dispensing Certification (for pharmacy laboratory and cancer center pharmacy technicians).
  • Basic dispensary skills, initiative, ability to work independently, effective communication, teamwork, and good organization skills.
