English Language Instructor

1. Position Overview The English Language Instructor will design, deliver, and evaluate engaging lessons that develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in accordance with the programme objectives and outcomes. The instructor will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures students' confidence, communication proficiency, and social skills. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Curriculum & Lesson Delivery Plan and implement structured lessons aligned with programme objectives: Phase 1: Focus on communication and social skills. Phase 2: Focus on language proficiency and continuous communicative competence. Develop and use appropriate instructional materials, activities, and resources to reinforce vocabulary building, grammar, sentence structure, and pronunciation. Incorporate interactive pedagogical approaches such as discussion-based learning, pair/group work, and presentation-based practice to enhance fluency and engagement. Integrate authentic reading and writing tasks such as emails, letters, reports, and speeches to develop functional literacy. Design lesson plans that progressively build students' skills across four key areas — Writing, Reading, Speaking, and Social Communication. B. Student Assessment & Feedback Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative evaluation tools. Provide timely, constructive, and individualised feedback to students on written and oral work. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and student progress. C. Learning Environment & Classroom Management Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and collaboration. Model appropriate communication etiquette and behaviour, demonstrating empathy, respect, and professionalism. Employ differentiated instruction to cater to varying proficiency levels and learning needs. D. Collaboration & Professional Conduct Work closely with the Teacher-in-Charge and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with the school's learning goals and values. Participate in planning meetings, progress reviews, and showcase events when required. Maintain professionalism in communication, punctuality, and adherence to school policies and safety guidelines. 3. Qualifications & Experience A recognised Degree or Diploma in English Language, English Literature, TESOL, Linguistics, or Education . Preferably CELTA, TESL, or equivalent certification in English teaching. Minimum 1 years of experience in teaching English Language or Communication Skills to youths (Secondary/JC level preferred). Experience in curriculum design , project-based learning , or competition preparation (e.g., oratory, debate, public speaking)is advantageous. Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills. 5.
