We are seeking an innovative and technically skilled engineer to join our team, specializing in adaptive machining. is a key technology for generative and regenerative applications at the heart of ARTC?s remanufacturing and manufacturing research. We are looking for people with the passion and drive to join us as part of the Remanufacturing Process Technology (RPT) Group. The Remanufacturing Process Technology Group also consists of research teams in Laser Directed Energy Deposition, Electron Beam and Arc Joining, Adaptive machining and Intelligent Process Remanufacturing for which individuals may also explore. Job Description We are seeking a hands-on CNC Engineer with expertise in CNC machining and CAM programming. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing toolpaths, setting up machines, and optimizing processes on the shop floor. While not essential, additional skills in CAD (preferably NX) and programming in Python, VB, or C# are considered valuable assets to support workflow improvements and automation. Responsibilities Create, optimize, and validate CNC programs for milling, turning, and multi-axis machining using CAM software (preferably NX CAM). Perform hands‐on setup and prove‐out of CNC machines, including tooling, fixturing, offsets, and verification. Troubleshoot machining processes, adjusting toolpaths and programs to achieve precision, efficiency, and high‐quality output. Collaborate with engineering and research teams to ensure manufacturability of CAD models. Analyze machining performance, recommending improvements in cycle times, tooling strategies, and process reliability. Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, setup instructions, and process changes. Use CAD software (preferably NX) to review models, create geometry for machining, or make design adjustments. Develop automation scripts, macros, or tools in Python, VB, or C# to streamline CAM workflows. Customize post‐processors to ensure compatibility with CNC controls. Conduct research on adaptive machining techniques, including automated decision‐making systems, dynamic process adjustments, toolpath optimization, scanning and data gathering technologies, and machine to machine communication. Prototype Development: Work closely with engineering teams to build prototypes and proof‐of‐concepts showcasing the effectiveness of advanced machining applications. Conduct experiments to validate the performance and robustness of developed solutions. Any other ad‐hoc work for the team, Group, Organisation and A*STAR with possible secondary roles. Job Requirements Degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. At least 3 years of experience. Strong, hands‐on experience with CNC machining (milling, turning, or 5‐axis). Proficiency with at least one major CAM software (NX CAM, PowerMill, HyperMill, etc.). Proficient knowledge of G‐code/M‐code and CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain). Experience in CAD software (Preferably NX, Solidworks). Experience in programming languages such as Python, VB.Net, C#, C++, MatLab, etc. would be advantageous. Strong communication and excellent writing skills. Ability to communicate, interact and work professionally in a collaborative environment as a team player. Ability to work in a dynamic fast‐paced environment in an agile manner to adapt to fast‐changing requirements of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to think critically and is problem‐solving oriented. Ability to work effectively and independently. Ability to demonstrate high level of initiative to learn and adapt new technologies to stay relevant. The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive.
