Position Title: Occupational Therapist Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Clinical Director Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing intervention programs that help children develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, and Educators, to create individualized treatment plans for children with developmental differences. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's functional abilities using standardized and non-standardized tools. Develop individualized therapy plans and goals in consultation with caregivers and team members. Deliver direct therapy sessions focusing on key areas such as fine motor skills, sensory integration, self-regulation, and activities of daily living (ADL). Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation for each child, including progress notes, evaluation reports, and therapy plans. Provide training and guidance to parents and teachers on strategies to support the child's development at home and school. Collaborate with other professionals to create and implement effective multidisciplinary intervention programs. Conduct periodic reviews of progress and modify intervention strategies as needed. Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education sessions to improve clinical practice and stay updated with new developments in the field. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, including maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to licensing requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) or eligibility to obtain registration. Relevant work experience in pediatric occupational therapy is preferred but not mandatory. Strong knowledge of developmental disorders, sensory integration, and motor learning principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with children, parents, and team members. Ability to develop and adapt individualized therapy plans based on the child's needs. Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practices. Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in conducting assessments and interpreting results. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic environments. Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address individual challenges. Understanding of the role of technology in therapy (e.g., assistive devices). Organizational skills for managing multiple cases and maintaining proper documentation. Work Environment: Clinical setting with occasional off-site visits (e.g., home or school visits). Flexible working hours may be required to meet the needs of children and their families. Performance Metrics: Achievement of therapy goals and outcomes based on client progress. Timeliness and quality of clinical documentation. Feedback from parents, teachers, and supervisors.
