Laser Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Experienced technicians welcome to apply with training provided on the job.
  • 50% taping operations and 50% laser operations or inspection responsibilities.

Taping Operations Overview:

  • Application of aluminum tape to aerospace components.
  • Removal and cleaning of components using abrasives and chemicals.
  • Collaboration with laser engineers and quality inspectors for processing customer parts.
  • Assistance in receiving, inspecting, and shipping of newly received and finished processed parts.
  • Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance control and performance.
  • Loading and unloading critical aerospace components manually.
  • Documentation completion and maintenance according to process control standards.
  • Technical documentation interpretation including work instructions, data cards, and KPIs.

Laser Operations and Inspection Highlights:

  • Assisting laser operators in running control strips and interpreting results.
  • Manual loading and unloading of aerospace components into robotic stations.
  • Collaboration with laser operators and technicians for efficient part processing.
  • Rectification point cross-checking with programmed points to prevent metal surface contact.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining laser peening parameters.

In-Process Inspection Details:

  • Visual and dimensional inspections of components verifying processing parameters.
  • Maintenance of product conformity and service quality ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Effective communication with the production team and contributing to performance management processes.
  • Periodic tool inspections and calibration ensuring accurate records.
  • Current versions of customer specifications, drawings, and inspection records maintenance.
  • Proper tagging and identification of processed components as agreed with customers.
  • Active participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Hands-on inspections aligned with customer requirements and associated documentation interpretation.
  • Quality concern investigation and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Promotion of a safe working environment and contribution to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives.
