Responsibilities

  • You will have end-to-end ownership of one of our core backend infrastructure systems, including large-scale real-time data processing pipelines and high-performance front-end servers.
  • Your expertise will directly influence the enhancement of developer workflows, ensuring reliable and efficient products that resonate with scale.
  • Advocate for an 'engineering excellence' culture through state-of-the-art tools, risk-driven testing, explainable systems, and code review.
  • You will architect, bootstrap, maintain, and scale cutting-edge open-source technologies (Kubernetes, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Kafka, Redis, MongoDB) that maximize software development velocity.
  • Build FinOps foundations to deliver on KPIs for infrastructure cost and cost as key engineering metrics in addition to Four Golden Signals.
  • Together with other engineering teams, share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with other team members.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science or related field, along with 8+ years of professional experience, or equivalent PhD with 3 years of experience.
  • Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures, and algorithms.
  • An incredible desire for quality and perfection, tempered when necessary to ship.
  • Experience in design and implementation of large-scale low-latency, high-throughput distributed backend services.
  • Proficiency in profiling and debugging distributed microservices.
  • Ability to build monitoring for modern microservice architectures.
  • Leadership skills in CI/CD implementation enabling self-autonomous development teams.
  • Familiarity with different branching strategies.
  • Background in SRE / DevOps roles.
  • Understanding of maintaining and communicating infrastructure cost to non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passionate about helping others and invested in the team's success.
  • Experience with infrastructure cost tooling and visibility.
  • Interest in optimization problems.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of various security standards, protocols, and implementation details.
  • Previous professional experience writing in Golang, Java, Scala, Python, NodeJS, C, or C++.

  • Experience with Kubernetes/Openshift.
  • Experience with large-scale SQL/NoSQL databases (Redshift, Postgres, Redis, Mongo, Elasticsearch).
  • Experience with large-scale messaging/streaming systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Spark).
  • Fluency in Mandarin is a plus.
