Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT systems for both office and vessels, ensuring they meet operational needs.
Manage network infrastructure, including onboard communication systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
Develop and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive data related to vessel operations and company information.
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Provide technical support for both office staff and vessel crews, addressing IT issues promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
Implement remote support solutions for vessels to facilitate quick resolution of technical problems.
Lead IT projects related to software implementation, system upgrades, and technology integration across the fleet.
Coordinate with various departments to align IT initiatives with business objectives and operational requirements.
Manage the IT team by recruiting, training, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and performance. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement in IT practices.
Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented while meeting operational needs.
Monitor expenditures related to IT projects and equipment purchases, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
Develop training programs for staff on new technologies, software applications, and best practices in IT security.
Ensure that all employees are equipped with the necessary skills to utilize technology effectively in their roles.
Maintain accurate records of IT systems, policies, procedures, and incident reports.
Prepare regular reports on IT performance metrics, project status updates, and security audits for senior management review.
Develop and maintain an incident response plan to address potential security breaches effectively.
Implement data inscription practices for sensitive information both at rest and in transit to safeguard against unauthorized access.
Regular training sessions for all employees on recognizing phishing attempts and other cyber threats will be part of your efforts to enhance our security culture.
Stay updated with the latest cyber threats by monitoring threat intelligence feeds and adjusting security measures accordingly.
Set up a vulnerability management program that includes regular scans for vulnerabilities in software applications and network infrastructure to keep us secure.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field
8+ years of experience in related field
Experience in information technology space and solving various software and hardware problems
Strong technical problem solving and communication skills
3 to 5 years of experience in IT support in a shipping Company would be advantageous.
Knowledge in ERP administration is a must and with experience would be advantageous.
Proven ability to collaborates, blend-ins and foster a team-oriented environment
Proven ability to self-drive work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
Good understanding of M365 application, NAS, Windows 11 operation system and services like SMB, Windows Updates, Profiles, Folder Permission hierarchy, Event logs.
Understood simple scripting such as Bat, PowerShell and Networking.
Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
