Position Overview The High School Belonging & Advisory Specialist plays a vital role in shaping Singapore American School's social-emotional and diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities. This dual role connects two key areas of impact: Advisory Lead (0.5 FTE) : overseeing and championing the advisory program by cultivating the vision of the advisory program and working closely with an advisory team and faculty advisors to maintain a culture of extraordinary care. Belonging Specialist (0.5 FTE) : fostering teaching and learning environments that encourage culturally responsive teaching by supporting teachers, coaches, and educational leaders to develop the knowledge, motivation, and organizational structures needed to support culturally responsive teaching. Together, these responsibilities advance the SAS2027 Strategic Plan priorities of Extraordinary Care and Possibilities, ensuring that every student engages meaningfully with the world beyond the classroom. Role-Specific Responsibilities 1. Advisory Lead Lead implementation and provide oversight for advisory program, curriculum, and learning experiences Communicate a compelling view of what we are working toward that inspires and brings stakeholders along Ensure that structures are in place to support curriculum implementation within every advisory space and at different grade levels Communicate regularly with all stakeholders (students, faculty advisors, families, school leadership, etc.) to ensure alignment and support Set, monitor, and adjust to priority benchmarks for the program each year to support the long-term goal of the vision Plan, organize, and lead professional learning opportunities for new and returning faculty advisors Lead the strategic assignment of students with advisors in the learning management systems and in partnership with counseling teams Lead, support, and build capacity in advisory team members Plan, organize, and lead advisory-related experiences (e.g., advisory off-campus events, assemblies, etc.)Partner with elementary and middle school advisory teams and the Office of Learning to support the continuity of programs across the school 2. Belonging Specialist Provide ongoing support and development to enable instructional leaders to further develop their skills and confidence in supporting culturally responsive education. Facilitate instructional leaders' knowledge, motivation, and organizational support of culturally responsive educational leadership. Support instructional leaders in building systems that support a culturally responsive school community. Provide ongoing support and development to enable classroom educators to further develop their skills and confidence in implementing culturally responsive teaching. Expand educators' use of resources supporting culturally responsive pedagogy. Disaggregate and analyze data by student subgroups to uncover potential disparities at the classroom and school level. Deepen teaching expertise with culturally responsive instruction to meet the needs of culturally diverse students. Ensure implementation of a culturally responsive curriculum. Design culturally responsive professional learning opportunities for educators and support schoolwide induction of these practices. Work collaboratively to plan, implement, and assess culturally responsive school initiatives, and create disequilibrium with the current state to explore alternatives. Position Requirements & Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Proven ability to lead and coach educators using a culturally responsive framework. Ability to lead, oversee, and drive change for strategic school programs, including deep expertise in social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies. Skill in leading adult learning (PD, workshops) and facilitating coaching conversations about intercultural development and SEL. Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills for effectively facilitating lessons, workshops, and information sessions for diverse stakeholders (parents, students, faculty). Proven capacity to work collaboratively within diverse vertical teams (colleagues, leaders, counselors, teachers) to ensure program alignment and success. Preferred Master's degree in Education, Global Studies, or related discipline. At least two years of full-time teaching experience or experience leading DEI initiatives or SEL programs. IDI (Intercultural Development Inventory) Qualified Administrator Working Requirements Sponsoring and/or coaching after school activities or sports are part of the responsibility of the professional educator. Therefore, faculty shall be available to coach and/or sponsor an athletic team or other extracurricular activity. Each faculty member is expected to do a minimum of one category 1 activity or sport per year. Mandatory attendance of weekly faculty meetings beyond the school day, new hire orientation and educator professional learning days. Chaperone and participate in a minimum of four evening and/or weekend school activities each year, as assigned (including Back-to-School Night, conferences, and more). SAS faculty members are expected to commit to chaperoning learning experiences including those requiring overseas and/or overnight excursions, including but not limited to High School Interim Semester and curricular trips. #J-18808-Ljbffr
