Role Overview
The Engineer in Workplace Safety, Health and Security (WSHS) will assist the Deputy Director of STRMO in formulating, driving, and sustaining the WSHS Management programme across HTX. The goal is to develop a strong safety culture emphasizing individual ownership and mutual well-being.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety programmes, monitoring their effectiveness, providing updates and recommendations to senior management, and supporting administrative operations of the WSHS programme, including coordinating meetings, managing documentation, and liaising with WSHS representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead risk management initiatives to establish a robust risk culture.
Coordinate emergency response programmes, including fire safety and SGSecure.
Conduct workplace inspections and audits to monitor WSHS performance.
Advise on accident investigations and preventive measures.
Develop and implement WSHS standards and SOPs.
Perform duties as a registered WSHO, including coordinating meetings and tracking issues.
Manage WSHS documentation and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Monitor and report on WSHS performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
Promote effective communication of WSHS issues and best practices across HTX.
Qualifications and Skills
Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering, Environment, or Occupational Health and Safety.
Professional certification in WSH (e.g., Specialist Diploma).
Minimum 3 years of experience in WSH within marine, construction, manufacturing, or service industries.
Ability to work independently, analytical, with excellent communication and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
Good writing skills; digital infographic skills are an advantage.
Ability to build consensus among stakeholders and advise on legal and hazard management requirements.
Continuous learner with a team-player attitude.
Note: New hires are initially on a two-year contract, subject to performance review for permanent placement. Applicants may need to complete a medical declaration or further assessments.
