OPIS, A Dow Jones Company, via Chemical Market Analytics (CMA), is seeking a Principal Analyst to work as part of a team covering market research and analysis of the Asian Aromatics market. Key activities include providing market analysis and contributions to clients and market reports, and maintaining, updating, and expanding the CMA database and models.
Essential Functions:
Provide key market updates for Ethylene Oxide & Derivatives along with analytics and forecasts.
Generate and analyze trends, cost, and demand dependencies for products involved.
Prepare charts and tables that are published routinely and update them as required.
Write regular weekly and monthly reports for selected products.
Meet clients and participate in industry events; make insightful discussions/presentations on the outlook for concerned products.
Supply/Demand – maintain production capacity database, and supply-demand balance forms through entire product chains including annual forms and quarterly balances as needed.
Work with other product service leads, engage functions including Sales & Marketing, to facilitate business growth.
Engage with other business lines to leverage the Chemical Market Analytics total solution.
Work with the global team to ensure global product area consistency and continuity.
COMPETENCIES:
General chemical industry knowledge is essential, and previous experience in the Aromatics sector will be preferred.
Ability to think through questions and problems and independently provide solutions.
Attention to detail and accuracy; prior experience demonstrating these traits is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
8-10 years of industry experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
An engineering degree is essential. MBA is a strong plus.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and with high attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese would be an advantage.
Confident to speak/present to global clients or at internal/external events. Willing to take on challenging client requests.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite; advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
