Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Help us grow our Financial Crimes and Supportability team
We are looking for an experienced Financial Crimes compliance professional to be a critical contributor to our APAC Financial Crimes and Supportability team. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert advising on financial crimes and supportability matters focusing on the Greater China market, playing an instrumental role in helping to scale Stripe’s Great China business safely and compliantly.
We are looking for a candidate who is eager to tackle challenging problems with a collaborative and solutions oriented approach. The successful candidate will be someone who can leverage their financial crimes subject matter knowledge to drive innovative solutions to mitigate financial crimes risk.
Stripe is both a technology company and a financial services company, and you will need to be comfortable straddling both of those worlds every day. The right person for the role will enjoy dealing with that puzzle, seeking creative solutions and moving quickly, often in the face of ambiguity.
What you’ll do
In your role as the APAC Financial Crimes & Supportability Advisor, reporting to the APAC Head of Financial Crimes and Supportability, you will:
Collaborate with the Risk Assessment team to conduct ongoing and in-depth financial crimes risk analysis specifically tailored to Greater China user segments.
Design and establish financial crimes and supportability policies and frameworks that are tailored to the specific risks and regulatory landscape of the Great China business.
Synthesise global compliance requirements applicable to Greater China population into a cohesive and streamlined overview, facilitating clarity and ease of implementation across diverse regional markets.
Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Financial Crimes & Supportability advisory matters for Stripe’s Greater China business, providing expert guidance to cross-functional stakeholders.
Present program updates and emerging risk trends to the leadership group.
Provide strategic advice to the business teams regarding risk management and compliance with existing and upcoming regulatory requirements, addressing change management and potential product implications.
Facilitate collaboration across Financial Crimes and Supportability teams to provide guidance that informs Greater China user exception decisions, with a thorough examination of associated financial crimes risks.
Collaborate with the business teams to enhance user engagement by delivering education on compliance requirements, ensuring clarity and accessibility of information for stakeholders.
Conduct internal and external training sessions to elevate awareness of financial crimes regulations and risks specific to Greater China segments.
Support the operations team in developing and implementing onboarding/review workflows that comply with established policy requirements, enhancing operational effectiveness.
Stay updated on regulatory and industry trends through continuous engagement and research, with a keen focus on the dynamics affecting Greater China.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum 5+ years combined relevant financial crimes experience in payments, banking, financial regulators, law firms and/or audit firms, preferably in a policy advisor role.
Strong familiarity with relevant laws, regulations and industry trends for the Greater China region.
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and stakeholder management skills; and experience executing on complex initiatives cross functionally.
Competent in interpreting legal guidance (with the support of the Legal team) into actionable guidance, and operational policies and systems-based solutions.
Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and provide high quality advice.
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
An effective and relatable “culture of compliance” mentality.
Ability to speak, read and write in Mandarin.
Preferred qualifications
Payments or Fintech experience.
Familiarity with card network rules.
Familiarity with MacOS and Google products.
CAMS or CFE certification (or equivalent).
Experience working at companies in Greater China or overseas branches of Greater China companies.
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is S$162,400 - S$243,600. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
At Stripe, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns. At Stripe, we welcome diverse perspectives and people who think rigorously and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions. Join us.
