Job Description
As a key member of our team, the Assistant Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our plant nursery. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional results, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our nursery, while also driving growth and improvement.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of nursery workers. You will be expected to work closely with the Senior Manager to develop and implement operational strategies, as well as provide input on costing and quotations for tender submissions.
In addition to your management responsibilities, you will also be required to maintain a high level of expertise in horticultural practices, including plant propagation, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems. This will enable you to provide guidance and support to your team, ensuring that they are equipped to deliver the highest standards of care for our plants.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate a strong passion for horticulture, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must also be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, or related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in nursery or horticultural management, preferably with exposure to hydroculture.
- Strong knowledge of nursery operations, including plant propagation, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems.
- Experience in supervising and managing nursery workers.
- Familiarity with machinery and equipment used in nursery settings.
- Ability to prepare costings/quotations for projects.
