About the Role
The Senior Director, Manufacturing and Operations Excellence Asia will lead the development of teams and execution of manufacturing and operational excellence strategies to support the company's medical device portfolio. This executive role is accountable for driving performance across all manufacturing facilities in Greater Asia, with a focus on quality, cost-efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
The role also oversees end-to-end manufacturing operations, including Supply Chain and Continuous Improvement, ensuring alignment with both short- and long-term business objectives. It will lead the implementation of operations excellence programs, including Lean, Six Sigma, and sustainability initiatives, while cultivating a high-performance culture and enhancing organizational capability through strategic leadership and talent development.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Leadership
- Lead the global manufacturing organization, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that enhance plant performance, increase productivity, and improve cost efficiency.
- Provide leadership to the plants in scope, including safety, quality, service, and supply continuity.
- Operational Excellence & Transformation
- Define and implement a global operational excellence roadmap to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve reliability.
- Institutionalize Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies across all facilities.
- Promote a performance-driven culture and foster best practice sharing across global sites.
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Drive manufacturing capacity planning, investment strategy, and technology adoption in line with long-term business growth.
- Lead strategic initiatives focused on automation, digital transformation, and sustainability in manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders (e.g., R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain) to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing with business operations.
Talent & Organizational Development
- Build and develop a high-performing global manufacturing leadership team.
- Lead workforce capability assessments and succession planning to strengthen operational leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
- Serve as a key member of the Global Operations Leadership Team.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on operational performance, strategic initiatives, and risk mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with international standards and regulatory requirements across all sites.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field (Master's/MBA preferred).
- More than 10 years' experience in a leadership role in Manufacturing with thorough understanding of the manufacturing strategies and the tactics, preferably within the medical device, FMCG, automotive or High-tech industries.
- Proven experience in operational transformation and excellence implementation across multiple regions.
- Working knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, Validation, SAP/APO.Strategic agility and business/financial acumen.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and change management capabilities.
