Job Description The Fulfilment Tech family is one of the pillars that enable Grab to out‑serve consumers and partners in various businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We develop high‑throughput, real‑time distributed systems that use sophisticated machine learning techniques to handle hundreds of millions of requests per day. At the Fulfilment Machine Engineering team, we tackle dynamic pricing, supply and demand management, and other marketplace challenges. We are looking for a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to build and refine cutting‑edge reinforcement learning models and simulation platforms. In this hands‑on role, you will build large‑scale simulation platforms, work closely with a Senior Engineering Manager, and contribute to Grab One North Singapore office. You will create a digital twin of Grab's dynamic marketplace, design reinforcement learning, optimisation, and control models, and deploy solutions at scale. Critical Tasks You Will Perform Develop and architect a simulation platform that models real‑world marketplace behaviour across Grab's diverse service offerings. Define and drive the technical roadmap for integrating the simulation platform into the product development lifecycle. Design the simulation platform to allow comprehensive "What‑If" scenario analysis, facilitating data‑driven product decisions. Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to design simulation workflows that support platform policy designs and optimisations. Work with data scientists and engineers to create Simulation SDKs that enhance the user experience of the platform. Partner with Data Scientists to integrate feedback loops, enabling optimal policy search using the simulation platform. Scale the simulation platform to execute hundreds to thousands of simulations daily. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and debug simulation divergence issues. Conduct service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, costing, tuning, and optimisation. Participate in code and design reviews to uphold high development standards. Qualifications Essential Skills You Will Need At least 7 years of experience in software engineering for complex machine learning services or large‑scale simulation environments. Proficiency in Scala, Python, and experience with Golang. Experience in functional programming and frameworks such as CatsEffect. Deep understanding of software engineering practices, design patterns, and writing readable, maintainable, and testable code. Ability to translate business problems into ML/AI projects. Experience developing and productionising ML pipelines using modern technologies such as Airflow or MLFlow. Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
