PowerX is a 12-months traineeship programme designed to enable and create Deep Tech career opportunities for working professionals, combining bespoke training and industry experience. Lincore is a critical materials refining startup with an initial focus on recovering Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, and Manganese from secondary sources such as end-of-life batteries and manufacturing scrap. We are developing next-gen, electro-metallurgical refining technologies to extract these critical materials into high-value battery precursors that can be used for manufacturing new batteries. Our mission is to localise battery recycling operations globally, a crucial step to close the loop in our energy transition journey. As part of technology development, we are building our team to optimise and scale up our refining systems. We are looking for a passionate and driven Research Engineer (process development)to join our growing team to contribute to our technology scale-up efforts. Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities Design, Test, and optimise leaching, downstream operations and electrochemical experiments at various process scale systems. Apply statistical tools for the design of experiments (DOE), regression analysis, and process optimisation. Conduct electrochemical analysis, including cyclic voltammetry, LSV and other related techniques. Perform application testing with various feedstock samples. Collaboration and Documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into scalable and cost-effective process solutions. Liaising with suppliers and contractors for the procurement and installation of scale-up systems. Document all process development, testing, and optimisation efforts, and contribute to technical reports and presentations. Stay updated on industry advancements in critical materials recovery and recycling technologies. Project scope shall not be limited to the above. It may encompass other related tasks needed for the project/role assigned by the partner company. Job Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or any relevant field. Hands-on experience with material characterisation techniques such as ICP, XRD, SEM and FTIR. Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis and interpretation. Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Willing to work in physically demanding activities as part of lab and pilot-scale operations. Preferred Skills 1-3 years' experience in Minerals processing/ Hydrometallurgy/ Electrochemical (Flow batteries, Fuel cell) processes is preferred. Prior hands-on experience in metals extraction (Li, Ni, Co, Mn, Cu) process development and piloting new technologies is desired. Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, HSC Chemistry, and ASPEN for process simulation is desired but not essential.
