About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Alta, you will have the opportunity to leverage your extensive full-stack software skills in a modern and rapidly evolving development environment, while also being deeply integrated into a broader team that's on the leading edge of financial innovation. Blockchain, DeFi, API/service-driven architectures, serverless infrastructure, data pipelines, front-end frameworks and no-code platforms are all key elements of our technological ecosystem that you will be exposed to.

Our team merges Web2 and Web3 skills, powering API-driven platforms with secure, scalable database architecture, while integrating blockchain systems, smart wallets, and DeFi partners to serve investors. We emphasize practical innovation and robust security in every solution we deliver for digital capital markets.

As a senior team member, you'll balance hands-on development with technical leadership. You'll translate complex business needs into technical solutions, influence feature planning, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in talent acquisition. Security and privacy are top priorities in everything we build.

We're a supportive, social, and entrepreneurial team of former investment bankers, technologists and strategists. Clear, honest communication is key to everything we do.

Some Of The Key Responsibilities Include

• Lead and contribute code as a key member of a technical team.
• Guide and participate in code reviews to ensure technical quality.
• Own deliverables from design through to release, collaborating with business stakeholders and team members.
• Improve our infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in partnership with DevOps.
• Work with Data teams to evolve business-critical data models.
• Expand automated testing and participate in regular security reviews.
• Stay current with new technologies and champion team-wide best practices, sharing insights to refine our stack and processes.

As our Senior Software Engineer, we know you'll be doing significant learning on the job. That said, we're hoping from Day 1 you'll bring:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of blockchain principles, smart contracts, and decentralized architectures.
• Proficiency in at least two modern languages , Go, Ruby on Rails, or similar).
• Track record in developing scalable, secure, cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with testability principles and patterns (TDD or similar).
• Solid experience with GitHub/Bitbucket in collaborative teams.
• Proactive, constructive code review habits.
• Expertise in data modeling for both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Experience with API-driven and service-oriented architectures.
• Hands-on blockchain development (Ethereum/Solidity or similar) would be an added bonus.

Beyond the technology, we also hope you've got some interest in:

• Financial services, particularly the investment space
• Digitized and Decentralized finance (DeFi), and all the new financial products and possibilities that come with these innovations (cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, NFTs, etc.)
• An appreciation for experimentation and designing systems/processes that accommodate business and technical agility

As a close-knit, social team we generally prefer to work together in person at one of our offices. That said, we provide a flexible working environment that is adaptable to periods of working from home.
