LECTURER, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

What the role is: This is a 2-year position as a Lecturer in the School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering Continuing Education and Training (CET) and Pre-Employment Training (PET) programmes in the areas of environmental sustainability, water technology, and waste management. What you will be working on: Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Design, develop and deliver in-person/online lectures, tutorials, practicals, assessments and marking for full-time and part-time courses in environmental science and sustainability, environmental engineering, water technology and carbon management Be available to teach at least 1 evening per week and/or on weekends for CET classes Conduct business development in the environmental industry to drive CET courses, "Industry in Curriculum" and projects. Supervise and facilitate student-industry collaboration projects Collaborate with industry on training, applied research and/or consultancy projects to stay relevant in your profession. Contribute to student-related events (such as leading student overseas trips) and outreach activities. Mentor students in character development and career readiness Provide pastoral care for students Carry out administrative duties to support academic and school operations What we are looking for: Relevant qualifications in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent. Relevant teaching experience or at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in the area of civil or environmental engineering Competent to plan, develop, teach, and support modules related to environmental science and sustainable practices, environmental engineering, water technology and carbon management, including but not limited to the following: Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation Energy & Environmental Management Systems Circular Economy & Environmental Sustainability Management Life Cycle Assessment Environmental Testing Passionate about education and possess a strong interest in nurturing, teaching, mentoring and interacting with students A team player with strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills Self-driven, independent and able to multitask effectively.
