Senior Cybersecurity Consultant

What the role is:
As a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant of the Cybersecurity Engineering Centre (CSEC) IoT, OT and IIoT Security team, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Lead in driving agile efforts on how to secure emerging technologies (IoT, OT, edge computing, 5G, threat analytics) that support Singapore's digitalisation initiatives, including Strategic National Projects (such as Digital Identity, Smart City, Connected Vehicles), as well as broader digital trends (Consumer IoT, Industrial IoT, Medical IoT).
What you will be working on:
Responsibilities
Lead strategic foresight, risk analysis, and horizon scanning of advancements in IoT technologies to anticipate and mitigate potential cybersecurity risks. Support the standardisation of risk responses and the development of governance frameworks for IoT/OT/IIoT deployments.
Lead and execute research into relevant domains, identifying emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technological trends with potential cybersecurity impact. Define research objectives, methodologies, and ensure rigorous, high-quality research outcomes to inform strategic decision-making.
Conduct analysis and strategic assessments of national cybersecurity strategies, policies, and initiatives, identifying gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for improvement in addressing evolving cyber threats in the IoT environment.
Lead the development of strategic reports and presentations that communicate research findings, strategic analyses, and actionable insights to stakeholders, including technical teams and senior leadership.
Manage cybersecurity research projects and programs, including scope development, vendor management, timeline, budget, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to advance research objectives, share knowledge, and foster innovation and continuous improvement in cybersecurity.
Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting their professional development and enhancing the organisation's cybersecurity research capabilities.
Contribute to the development of innovative IoT/IIoT/OT cybersecurity solutions on an ad-hoc basis.
What we are looking for:
Requirements
At least five to eight years of experience in IoT/OT/IIoT environments such as manufacturing, energy, healthcare, or transportation. Specialisation in IoT/OT/IIoT preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Computing, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Data Analytics, or related fields.
Certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, IEC62443, or equivalent are advantageous.
Good understanding of IoT/OT/IIoT domains, including:
Secure Communications (e.g., MQTT, CoAP, OPC UA)
Cryptography
Structured Text and Ladder Logic
Function Block Diagrams
Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA
Familiarity with security principles, policies, standards, and frameworks such as IEC62443, ISO/IEC 30141, NIST guidelines, and CSA CCoP.
Understanding of key threats affecting IoT/OT/IIoT domains.
Hands-on technical curiosity about the inner workings of technology.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in teams; resourceful, responsible, motivated.
