The Applications Engineer will work closely with ZYGO's sales, marketing, engineering teams and service engineers while interfacing with customers during pre- and post- sales activities. What You\'ll Do In this highly technical position, you are expected to become an expert operator of ZYGO's optical metrology instrumentation and have the ability to define the optimum solution to meet the specific requirements of a metrology application. Become a key customer-facing technical resource through expertise with ZYGO's metrology instrumentation. Support the sales team through customer sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and measurement reports. Perform onsite training of customers through individual visits as well as supporting tradeshows, technical meetings, and conferences. Stay abreast of new industry developments, trends, and applications. Assess the performance of ZYGO products from a user's point of view and provide feedback to support product development. Investigate new uses of ZYGO's technology. Work closely with Research and Development and Engineering to communicate customer feedback, develop new product features, and troubleshoot new system and new software prior to release. Generate and/or review technical documentation and marketing collateral such as application notes, webinars, videos, and presentations. In this role you will work with cross functional teams to deliver world class customer service during all parts of the buying process and aftermarket support. What You\'ll Bring B.S. Engineering, Physics, Optics or related field. Experience (5-10 years) in technical role. Experience in a customer-facing product support role. Knowledge and experience within the Optics, Consumer Electronics, Semiconductor, Aerospace, Defense, Automotive or Disk Drive industry. Strong ability to communicate to sales, engineering, operations, and management teams on all levels (internal and external). Programming experience in Python required. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Willing to travel up to 50% or more. What\'s Nice To Have Background within a technical specialty preferred. Metrology experience within Automotive, Optics, Photonics, or Aerospace market an advantage. Programming experience in Mountains Maps, Mountains Lab software and MATLAB, or related is preferred. Knowledge and experience of optical metrology systems strongly desired.
