Learn more about CQT at Job Overview The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore is seeking researchers and engineers to develop next-generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. Multiple positions are available at different levels, requiring diverse expertise. This initiative is funded under the National Quantum Processor Initiative, a flagship program aimed at developing a full-stack quantum processor based on Yb-Ba ions. The program leverages the unique capabilities of existing ion trap groups within CQT, focusing on scalability. CQT is a pioneering quantum research center, offering a diverse environment at the intersection of theoretical physics, experimental physics, and computer science. The successful candidates will work on hardware development for the ion trap quantum processor, including designing enclosures for optical modules, creating custom optomechanical components, and participating in all development stages from defining requirements to design, manufacturing, and integration. Job Requirements We are seeking several mechanical engineers to join our team working on the next-generation ion trap quantum processor. Candidates should have: Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related fields; 1-2 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing (preferred); Hands-on experience with mechanical design and manufacturing, capable of designing stable mechanical systems under thermal and mechanical stresses, with knowledge of thermal management and mechanical stability; understanding of machine shop capabilities and manufacturing processes; Proficiency in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or COMSOL.
