What you will be working on: About Consulting Practice: The Consulting Practice within the Government Technology Office of GovTech helps agencies resolve complex IT challenges, modernize systems and develop innovative solutions with confidence. We bring together deep engineering, product, and design expertise to assess legacy environments, align stakeholders, and shape multi-year solutions that are human‐centric, scalable, and delivered by GovTech and industry partners. Each Consulting team member is a leader in their domain and works collaboratively with GovTech teams and agencies to address the government's most critical technology challenges. As a founding member, you'll also shape this growing practice while working on diverse and impactful problems in the public sector. Role: As the first Creative Technologist in the Innovation Team, you'll be at the forefront of prototyping the next generation of public services. You'll bridge product design and engineering by turning solution concepts into usable, working prototypes in short timeframes. This role is ideal for someone who embodies the hacking spirit, and brings an experimental approach to making emerging technologies relevant and usable. You'll operate across the technology stack to help agencies imagine and test new kinds of human–digital interactions that enable more effective service delivery. Rapidly design and build working prototypes of new digital experiences, that solve public sector use cases, in innovative ways Create tools, workflows, and experimental interfaces that demonstrate what's possible with human‐AI interaction, LLMs, and other new emerging technologies Facilitate the co‐creation between agencies, GovTech, and industry partners to translate abstract ideas from the lab, into tangible, testable solutions Set up the experiments, proof‐of‐concepts and analytics needed to evaluate the feasibility of innovative solutions Capture and share learnings—patterns, playbooks, templates—that level up GovTech's capacity to prototype and innovate quickly You'll thrive here if you: Embody a culture of experimentation and learning Comfortable navigating uncertainty, quick to adapt when things change Can shift fluidly between design, coding, evaluating & fine‐tuning model outputs, storytelling Energised by working in ambiguous spaces at the edge of what is possible Influence through building trust, clarity, and collaboration Love hacking together working prototypes in days, not months What we are looking for: 10+ years of experience spanning product design, creative technology, UX engineering, data visualisation, human‐AI interaction or adjacent fields Proven ability to lead projects in complex, multi‐stakeholder environments, working with and managing team members across disciplines (design, tech, ops and policy) to bring innovative solutions to life Use a variety of design methods, code and AI tooling, to rapidly turn solution concepts into interactive experiences, to validate ideas and technical feasibility Solid understanding of software development fundamentals and the full‐stack architecture (front‐end and back‐end) sufficient to communicate effectively with other engineers and understand the implications of design choices. Strong communicator and natural collaborator who can bridge technical and non‐technical disciplines and bring stakeholders along Familiarity with designing and prototyping AI‐driven experiences, including working with LLMs, APIs, or custom models (nice‐to‐have), evaluating outputs, fine‐tuning, and shaping emergent user behaviours into usable workflows Passion for public service innovation and building technology for societal impact About Government Technology Agency The Government Technology Agency (GovTech) is the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives and public sector digital transformation.
