Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from intraday coverage through to in-depth features. We are seeking an experienced reporter to lead our coverage of billionaires in Singapore as well as the richest families in Southeast Asia.
You will have a drive to break new details about how these billionaires invest and deploy their fortunes and exert their power and influence, while consistently having an eye on the bigger picture and connecting the dots for Bloomberg's global audience.
You will be a part of a global team that maintains the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the world's richest 500 people. You will need to dig deep into regulatory filings and accounting and will be responsible for updating information on Southeast Asia's tycoons for the index. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who can build and leverage connections within Bloomberg's bureaus in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and beyond to tell the biggest and best stories across platforms, including Bloomberg Businessweek and Bloomberg Markets magazines.
We’ll trust you to:
Deliver insightful enterprise that connects the dots for readers
Cultivate scoops under tight deadlines and take ownership of your beat, staying close to the news and developments in local courts
Work seamlessly and proactively with teams across regions and departments
Build and update valuation models for Southeast Asia's richest people and families
You'll need to have:
At least 3 recent years experience in financial journalism or at least 1 year of experience in journalism at Bloomberg
Experience working in a real time news environment
Experience with Microsoft Excel to build and apply financial valuation models
The ability to write quickly and accurately under deadline
An understanding of how politics, economy and society interact in Singapore
Fluency in both spoken and written English
Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
