Overview AI Engineer (AIEH) for AI Singapore (Innovation)AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the AI ecosystem to perform use-inspired research, grow knowledge, create tools, and develop talent to power Singapore's AI efforts. The AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) aims to groom local AI talent and enhance their career with AI-related skills, involving 2 months of deep-skilling followed by 6 months of real-world project execution. The AI Engineer hub (AIEH) team is looking for a driven AI Engineer to execute programmes, lead AI-based projects for internal and external stakeholders, and spearhead innovative initiatives including cutting-edge AI technologies. The role includes mentoring AIAP apprentices, guiding real-world projects, scoping industry initiatives, and contributing to internal AI development projects and technology implementations while collaborating with external partners. Responsibilities Drive and work on tasks stemming from AIEH industry partnership projects and other AIAP-related programmes. Lead end-to-end solution development for industry AI projects, from scoping to deployment and maintenance. Train and mentor AI apprentices during the Deep-skilling and Project phases, and other umbrella programmes. Collaborate with industry partners to identify, scope, and define project requirements and deliverables. Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for potential industry collaborations. Participate, prepare and execute the AIAP recruitment stages. Support AI Singapore’s industry and community-building activities by contributing to talks, seminars, workshops, journals and other outreach programmes. Qualifications End-to-End Project Delivery: Strong portfolio of AI/ML projects from scoping and data analysis through deployment and documentation. Applied Machine Learning: Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals with experience applying algorithms to NLP, Computer Vision, or tabular data problems. Generative AI & LLMs: Experience developing LLM-powered applications, including Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning with modern frameworks. Software Engineering Excellence: Expert-level Python skills and strong software engineering practices. MLOps & Cloud Proficiency: Familiar with Git, Docker, CI/CD, and building data/model pipelines on a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Passionate Mentor: Willing to guide and develop AI talent within AISG Innovation’s collaborative team. Excellent Communicator: Ability to articulate complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences. Lifelong Learner: Curiosity and drive to stay current in AI.
