Overview We are looking for an experienced Consultant to join our offshore wind and energy transition team. In this role, you will manage existing and grow new client relationships in Japan and across Asia, build new partner networks, and work closely with international and regional technical teams to scope and deliver impactful projects that accelerate the energy transition in the region. You’ll be fluent in Japanese and English, with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong track record in building networks, working collaboratively across teams, coaching colleagues, and delivering multiple projects. Key responsibilities Build relationships with clients across Asia, particularly Japan, working with our Energy Transition and Offshore Wind divisions in the UK and Singapore. Lead and support proposal development, drawing on expertise from Carbon Trust colleagues and partners. Use your networks and the teams to connect with potential clients and stakeholders, including through events and webinars, to identify new opportunities. Develop differentiating propositions with strategic impact, grounded in our global expertise and local knowledge. Contribute technical input to projects, such as climate impact assessments, and support delivery across local and global teams. Provide quality assurance and performance oversight across a portfolio of projects, ensuring outputs are high-quality, on time and on budget. Drive key strategic initiatives that require cross-company collaboration. Fluency in Japanese and English is essential Strong client relationship building, interpersonal and networking skills Experience in business development and scoping impactful, commercial projects Professional experience in Japan Qualifications and experience Degree educated (or equivalent), in a relevant discipline, e.g. engineering, economics, energy, environment, finance, politics. An interest in energy, infrastructure, offshore wind, renewable energy or clean energy transition would be advantageous. Experience leading strategic consulting projects. Background in policy, economic or market analysis and/or consultancy Strong experience in building and managing client relationships Salary & Benefits We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 17 days paid annual leave rising to 18 after 1 full years’ service plus public holidays. At the Carbon Trust we offer flexibility around working from home and our employees can work from home up to 3 days per week.
