Overview:
This role will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of insolvency and restructuring cases, including both corporate and personal insolvencies, and will oversee the day-to-day administration of liquidation, restructuring, and bankruptcy procedures. The role requires a strong understanding of Singapore’s insolvency laws, particularly theInsolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act (IRDA)and other relevant regulations, as well as excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Insolvency Case ManagementOversee and manage a portfolio of insolvency cases, including corporate insolvencies, liquidations, judicial management, debt restructuring, and personal bankruptcies under Singapore’sInsolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act (IRDA).
Prepare and implement strategies for corporate recovery or liquidation, ensuring effective management of the insolvency process.
Handle filings and ensure compliance with statutory obligations and deadlines under Singaporean law (e.g., submissions to theAccounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) ,Official Assignee (OA) , andSingapore Courts ).
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including creditors, clients, and legal advisors.Client Relationship ManagementDevelop and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic advice on restructuring options, debt solutions, and corporate recovery.
Advise clients on the various statutory options available, including Voluntary Arrangements, Judicial Management, and Winding Up, and guide them through the complexities of each process.
Ensure timely and transparent communication with clients, updating them on case progress, potential risks, and outcomes.Financial Analysis & ReportingConduct in-depth financial analysis of distressed companies, reviewing balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, and liabilities to develop effective recovery or liquidation strategies.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports for creditors, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and adherence to local compliance standards.
Oversee the preparation of asset realisation plans and the distribution of assets to creditors in accordance with the priorities set out in the IRDA.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and supervise a team of insolvency practitioners, junior staff, and support teams to ensure the smooth operation of insolvency cases.
Provide guidance and training to junior staff and insolvency practitioners to ensure their continuous professional development.
Monitor performance, provide feedback, and encourage best practices to ensure high-quality service delivery.Compliance & Risk ManagementEnsure strict compliance with Singapore’s insolvency legislation, particularly theInsolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act (IRDA) , theCompanies Act , and relevant regulations.
Oversee the filing of statutory reports and ensure that all deadlines are met, including submissions to ACRA, the OA, and the Singapore courts.
Identify and manage risks associated with each insolvency case, including creditor claims, litigation risks, and asset recovery.Stakeholder ManagementEngage with creditors, regulatory authorities, judicial managers, liquidators, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure proper administration of insolvency processes.
Manage creditor meetings, prepare agendas, and present progress reports during meetings of creditors or court hearings.
Handle contentious issues such as creditor disputes, fraudulent conveyance investigations, and mismanagement claims.Business DevelopmentAssist in preparing proposals and documentation for new business opportunities, including preparing case studies, client presentations, and engagement letters.
Participate in client pitches and assist in gathering market intelligence to support business development efforts.Key Skills and Qualifications:
Qualifications :Bachelor’s Degreein Accounting, Law, Finance, or any accounting professional qualification.Experience :Minimum of 4yearsof experience in insolvency, restructuring, or corporate recovery, with a proven track record in managing complex insolvency cases under Singaporean law.
Experience working with Singapore’s insolvency and restructuring regulatory frameworks, particularly theIRDAandCompanies Act.
Experience in bothcorporate and personal insolvenciesand familiarity with various restructuring options such asJudicial Management ,Schemes of Arrangement , andWinding Up.Skills :In-depth knowledge of Singapore insolvency laws, regulations, and the insolvency process.
Strong financial and accounting analysis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, creditors, legal advisors, and regulators.
Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.Personal Attributes :High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
