As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll guide technical direction, lead and mentor a team, and help shape the future of our backend systems and AI-enhanced engineering culture . Your responsibilities will include: Leading the roadmap and development of our proprietary game backend using Java. Building and maintaining scalable microservices, using AI-enhanced tooling to accelerate development and reduce bugs. Proactively using AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.) to optimize workflows, refactor codebases, and resolve bugs faster. Driving best practices such as test-driven development, observability, and continuous integration with AI-powered test generation and monitoring insights. Managing and mentoring a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of experimentation, automation, and continuous learning. Leading technical discussions, conducting AI-assisted code reviews, and making architectural decisions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver high-impact features. Supporting hiring efforts and contributing to team growth and knowledge-sharing. Keeping abreast of the latest AI technologies and integrating useful tools into the backend team's stack and workflow. As a successful candidate, you would have: Shipped multiple features and projects in a live environment A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related is strongly preferred 7+ years of development experience, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or management role A strong track record of leveraging AI tools to boost engineering output and quality. The ability to lead and support a team through complex technical challenges Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to guide technical conversations and decisions A high sense of quality and polish, and pride in the work you deliver Experience leading backend development efforts in live production environments The ability to accurately time estimate and plan technical work, and support the team in doing the same A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for automation, experimentation, and keeping up with industry trends—especially in the AI and backend systems space.
