Valued at US$6.2 billion and backed by world-leading investors including Visa, Airtree, Blackbird, Sequoia, DST Global, Greenoaks, Salesforce Ventures, Lone Pine, and Square Peg, Airwallex is leading the charge in building the global payments and financial platform of the future. If you're ready to do the most ambitious work of your career, join us. Attributes we value: we hire successful builders with founder-like energy who want real impact, accelerated learning, and true ownership. You bring strong role-related expertise and sharp thinking, and you're motivated by our mission and operating principles. You move fast with good judgment, dig deep with curiosity, and make decisions from first principles, balancing speed and rigor. You are humble and collaborative; turn zero-to-one ideas into real products, and you "get stuff done" end-to-end. You use AI to work smarter and solve problems faster. Here, you'll tackle complex, high-visibility problems with exceptional teammates and grow your career as we build the future of global banking. If that sounds like you, let's build what's next. What You'll Do As Regulatory Enforcement Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Airwallex's regulatory enforcement and broader legal strategy, across APAC and beyond. You'll engage directly with government regulators and law enforcement in the region, handling highly sensitive matters (e.g., court orders, subpoenas, search warrants), with a strong focus on the APAC region. You will advise internal stakeholders on handling these requests, manage internal follow ups, ensuring that Airwallex meets both legal requirements and Airwallex's high standards for compliance and professionalism. You will be a strategic partner for teams navigating complex legal matters involving financial institutions, customers, and other external parties. You will develop and manage a scalable, global strategy and protocols to support Airwallex's cooperation with key regulators and protect the company's legal and reputational interests as we rapidly expand our customer base and products. You will also provide critical support in advising the company through litigation, court proceedings, arbitration, and disputes (including both direct representation and supervising external counsel), and you will also be responsible for supporting internal investigations involving financial crime. Responsibilities Represent the company in front of government regulators and law enforcement (primarily in APAC) to manage and respond to inquiries, subpoenas, court orders, and other requests. Advise and support stakeholders across business units on handling regulatory and law enforcement requests, ensuring timely, legally sound, and strategic follow ups. Develop, implement, and continuously improve processes and protocols for regulatory cooperation, balancing business needs, legal obligations, and reputational risk as Airwallex grows. Represent Airwallex and manage external counsel in key litigation, court proceedings, arbitration, and disputes—with a mandate spanning business customers, financial institutions, individuals, and other parties. Shape global strategy and governance for regulatory enforcement engagement, dispute management, and risk mitigation amid ongoing business expansion. Conduct internal investigations involving issues related to financial crime. Who You Are We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory. Minimum Qualifications Admitted to practice law in Singapore or another Commonwealth jurisdiction (e.g., Hong Kong, UK, Australia) or the US. At least 3 years post-qualification legal experience (with 5 years preferred). Hands-on expertise advising financial institutions in connection with regulatory matters, enforcement actions, investigations, and disputes. Demonstrated experience engaging with regulators in APAC, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Substantial work experience at an internationally-recognized external law firm. Experience and confidence handling cross-border legal matters with global teams, including in the Americas and EMEA. Fluent in English and proficient in Mandarin (with fluency preferred). Preferred Qualifications Experience working as in-house counsel, particularly in the fintech or payments industry. Prior government work experience. Working knowledge of regulatory regimes relevant to Airwallex's business (e.g., AML/KYC, sanctions, data privacy, consumer protection). Outstanding organizational and project management skills; comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. Analytical and pragmatic thinker with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Equal opportunity Airwallex is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
