Senior Engineering Manager, Digital Economy Products

Overview Digital transformation within the public sector is at the heart of GovTech. GovTech (Government Technology Agency of Singapore) harnesses information-communications technologies to make a difference to the everyday lives of people in Singapore. Digital Economy Projects (DEP) is a cluster within GovTech that operates like a modern product company to solve important underserved problems in the public sector, especially in the digital economy area, including healthcare, workforce transformation, trade/industry/finance, national development, and AI-driven workplace productivity solutions. DEP is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join us to serve the nation better. What you will be working on As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for delivering value of a programme through multiple agile product teams. You will ensure solid technical direction, drive the design, implementation & delivery. As a leader of your organisation, you will be making your teams effective, setting standards and creating growth culture. Collaborating with your respective product and UX leaders in creating and driving a solid, coherent product vision and strategy, as well as setting and measuring objectives for the products in your portfolio, creating and maintaining long-term technical plans and roadmaps for your products Defining your team's engineering strategy and directions that align with the organisation's overall vision and goals Partnering with stakeholders and agencies to prioritise and manage roadmaps for delivering towards product vision incrementally and efficiently in order to deliver good value to the people of Singapore Proactively identifying and initiating worthwhile engineering initiatives to maximize impact on the public good Establishing practices and tools to encourage a strong engineering culture and maximize engineering effectiveness and impact Identify and grow leaders, measure success, and transform team structures to make the team effective Set standards, manage performance, and support professional growth of people within the organisation, offering constructive feedback, mentoring, and guidance as needed Identify resourcing needs and drive internal and external hiring for the organisation and beyond What we are looking for Experience and good track record of running medium to large teams (15+) with multiple tracks of execution, managing managers. Experience with solving complex technical issues (security requirements, high-availability systems, coexistence of new and legacy systems). Proficiency in modern full-stack technologies; experience in modern front-end engineering on Next.js/React.js and Java/TypeScript on the backend is preferred. Proven ability to provide technical leadership to large teams, drive team effectiveness and products through data. Passion for engineering excellence and for software craftsmanship. Passion for working for public good. Ability to set meaningful objectives and guide a team to achieve them together. 2+ years experience coaching engineers and managers.
