CLIC is a research collaboration between the University of Cambridge and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore (CARES). This initiative aims to develop neuroscience-based interventions for lifelong flexible learning, launched in October 2020 and funded by the National Research Foundation Singapore.
The world today evolves rapidly due to technological advances and globalisation. Individuals must adapt and acquire new skills to ensure resilience through a culture of lifelong flexible learning. Cognitive flexibility enables individuals to adapt to change, think creatively in new situations, and make the most of opportunities, including emerging career prospects.
Our modern digital age requires a high capacity for cognitive flexibility. The education system needs innovation to equip citizens with future skills. For instance, major global challenges such as climate change, renewable energy, and food security demand novel and creative approaches and solutions.
CLIC researchers are developing a neuroscience-based model of flexible learning, incorporating important social contextual factors, to inform practical, real-life interventions for use in schools and workplaces. These interventions will prepare individuals for future career success and support a good quality of life and wellbeing, thus fostering a flourishing society.
We seek one full-time Research Associate with potential reappointment opportunities. The research associate will contribute to research activities focusing on cognitive flexibility and learning, as well as training-related brain changes among adults and adolescents. Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of the project, the research associate will have opportunities to engage in research activities related to human neuroimaging, language, infant cognition/learning, and pedagogy.
  • Support the recruitment of approximately young adults years) from vocational institutions (e.g. ITE, polytechnics, and universities) and the general working population via community sampling (e.g. community centres, clinics).
  • Organise the collection of datasets.
  • Oversee and standardise protocols for data coding, data entry, and data analysis for the datasets.
  • Assist with the preparation of conference presentations and journal papers.
  • Perform other administrative duties, including IRB procedures.
Essential Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Psychology, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in psychometrics and scale development/validation.
  • Knowledge of ethical and administrative procedures, including IRB development.
  • Prior experience in conducting adult cognitive testing.
  • Prior experience with participant recruitment processes.
  • Prior experience and familiarity with data management protocols and ethical regulatory frameworks in Singapore.
  • Experience in performing general administration tasks for research projects.
  • Experience in producing research reports.
  • Good statistical knowledge and skills, including familiarity with statistical analysis software (R, SPSS).
  • Good IT skills (Office).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work within given deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
