Global Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all global businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience, and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a
Senior Legal Counsel, Private Banking.
Principal Responsibilities
In this role you will
Assist and support the HSBC Private Banking business in Singapore in its ambitious regional growth strategy by providing expert, commercially sensible and pragmatic legal advice, guidance, and support to ensure that legal, conduct and reputational risks are identified, reported and mitigated
Draft, review, and negotiate relevant contracts and related transaction documents (including bespoke credit documentation for complex cross border transactions, service agreements for new strategic launches)
Identify new legal, regulatory and market developments that can affect business activities, and advise our business teams on how these developments may affect their business
Support local, regional, and global projects and initiatives
Advise on the management of complaints, disputes, and internal investigations in respect of the Private Banking business
Advise relevant Management on non-standard legal, and conduct and reputational risks and ensure senior Legal Management is briefed on major issues arising in relevant business area and major legislative changes in area of expertise
Lead and manage external counsel engagement on transactions or projects in a cost-effective manner
Execute against relevant policies and procedures for the relevant area of coverage to ensure that Legal's role in the second line of defence can be execute
