We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong skills in robotics software development and hardware-software integration to join our team at the Obayashi Construction Tech Lab Singapore (OCLS). The role involves working on collaborative research projects with Singapore-based Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), as well as hands-on deployment of robotic systems at live construction sites.
Essential Job Functions:
Research & Development Projects
Contribute to the development of robotics-related platforms, ensuring alignment with project goals and specifications.
Create comprehensive test cases to evaluate the functionality and performance of platforms.
Conduct acceptance testing of programs developed by the university to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.
Assess the compatibility of robotics-related platforms with construction robots available in the market to ensure smooth integration and operational efficiency.
Develop and test adapters for industrial construction robots leveraging Open RMF.
Conduct field tests by deploying robots and platforms at construction sites to evaluate performance and functionality.
Perform on-site debugging and troubleshooting to address any issues that arise during testing.
Deployment & Integration Projects
Conduct research on construction robots, compare specifications and performance, and select the most suitable options for site deployment.
Build relationships with manufacturers of construction robots, site personnel, and regulatory bodies to manage deployment projects effectively.
Gather needs through interviews with teams at construction sites and explore solutions or ideas that address those needs.
Assist in the improvement of robot functionalities from a software development perspective
Project & Cross-functional Support
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, backed by hands-on research experience
Document project results and contribute to project reports and presentations.
Define and manage detailed project specifications and requirements.
Support the planning and execution of robotics-related events, including coordination, logistics, and on-site management.
Assist in the formulation of commercialization strategies and business initiatives in the field of construction robotics.
Attend exhibitions and conferences to gather insights and information.
Perform other job-related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in robotics software development & integration.
Proficiency in ROS2, Ubuntu/Linux, Docker, and Git.
Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
Experience in hardware-software integration, including working with real robot platforms and sensor systems.
Program/Project management skills & Comfortable conducting field tests and on-site deployments
