Supplier Quality Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Department: QAQC Department Reports to: Manager Functional relationships: Li-ion battery product design in Japan Li-ion battery process engineering in Japan POSITION PROFILE: The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the quality of cylindrical cell components through supplier collaboration, inspections, and change management. Acts as the quality control tower between suppliers and internal teams, driving defect reduction, yield improvement, and compliance with global standards. Leverages cross-functional coordination and technical expertise to support stable mass production quality in Tuas factory. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Act as SQE for cylindrical cell components, managing supplier-related quality issues, changes, and audits. Lead supplier improvement activities to reduce defects and enhance yield. Serve as the control tower for material quality management in cooperation with suppliers. Manage inspection processes for cylindrical cell materials. Promote QAQC’s presence and influence through cross-functional team participation. Collaborate with HQ and global sites (Japan,Singapore,China) to advance global SQE standardization. Coordinate supplier audits across local and overseas manufacturing sites. Analyze variation and machine differences in components, and develop effective control measures. Share best practices from Singapore, Japan and China to improve Tuas factory’s quality stability. Ability/Competency required: Degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, materials, chemical, quality or manufacturing. At least 2-3 years of relevant working experiences in manufacturing industry. Extensive knowledge of cylindrical cell structure and manufacturing process. Understanding of material properties (separator, electrolyte, metal parts, etc.). Strong skills in 4M change management for components. Experience in supplier audits and improvement activities (domestic & overseas). Analytical skills to identify trends, variations, and root causes in quality data. Effective communication in English for technical and business discussions. Cross-functional collaboration skills with production, engineering, and procurement. Leadership and mentoring abilities to develop team members. #J-18808-Ljbffr
