Job description
The technical support professional is responsible for providing remote/onsite technical support and services for IBM i.
In this role, you will apply Problem Determination/Problem Source Identification (PD/PSI) techniques in diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems for our clients/services teams. You will be collaborating with other worldwide support/development teams and organizations to ensure timely, accurate and seamless solution. As such, the candidate must be able to work as a team and build up relationship across various teams worldwide.
The candidate is expected to learn skills for various products on IBM i over time and strive to become a subject matter expert in the software products supported.
Aside from Problem Management Record (PMR) resolution work, candidate will assist pre-sales on activities such as requirement gathering, preparation of SOW and creation of new offerings. The candidate will also implement and maintain the solution built.
Creating, performing and managing projects plans for IBM i OS upgrades, system configuration changes, and any major changes to the environment.
Ensuring SLAs are met or exceeded; Adhering to the Change Management and Problem Management processes.
Performing problem management and meet system recovery requirements as defined by problem severity; Adhering to IBM Security Guidelines and Policies.
Demonstrate the use of technologies and various features; Consistently provide excellent customer service to accounts.
Required Technical Skills
1. IBM i & OS/400 Operating System Support.
2. Install & Upgrade IBM i and related sofwares, IBM i software configurations, install & maintenance PTF/APAR management.
3. Plan, Prepare & Execute complex Data migrations of same & different versions.
4. Implementing and supporting IASPs (Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools).
5. Implement of TCPIP application, protocols and services, Virtual IPs/Virtual Ethernets.
6. Implement DCM, Secure socket layer / IP Securities.
7. Backup and Recovery management using BRMS.
8. Trouble shooting IBM i Operating system problems, Database, Files systems, Jobs, Work management, Security, Journal, ASP, Printing, Network, Journal and other software problems.
9. OS/400 Security Management.
10. Problem and Change Management process knowledge.
11. Performance and Capacity Management using iDoctor/PM400.
12. Basic CL programming.
