Job description The Cloud GPU team is central to AI innovation, dedicated to building and maintaining an industry-leading GPU fleet and AI Platform. Our core mission is to empower Google Cloud's most sophisticated training and inference customers by providing unparalleled computational resources. We are responsible for the entire life-cycle of GPU offerings within Google Cloud, from the initial launch of new GPU families to ensuring their optimal reliability and operational excellence for AI workloads.Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We are looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, artificial intelligence; the list goes on and is growing every day.As a software engineer manager in the Cloud GPU team, you will focus on delivering tangible growth in the AI infrastructure space. The team grows at the intersection of hardware, software, data science and applied AI, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in accelerated computing. We collaborate closely with internal and external partners to deliver the foundational infrastructure that fuels advancements in artificial intelligence across various industries.Qualifications Job responsibilities Hire, grow, and mentor talented engineers, building a strong and cohesive team that excels in a fast-paced environment. Drive strategic roadmaps to ensure the Google Cloud Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) fleet remains industry-leading, anticipating future needs and advancements in AI. Collaborating extensively with internal and external partners to effectively execute on our mission of delivering unparalleled compute acceleration. Drivie operational excellence across the entire GPU fleet, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. Advocate the customer, collaborating closely with Google's top AI customers to understand their needs and translate them into product and platform enhancements. Minimum qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role. 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. Preferred qualifications Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects. Experience with Cloud Infrastructure. Ability to communicate in both English and Mandarin fluently to support client management in this region.
