Software Engineer

Overview What you will be working on Part of Government Digital Products (GDP), the AI Programme is a key programme within our GovTech product strategy, and strategic initiative to scale up AI adoption across whole of government. Over the past few years, GovTech has supported agencies in AI initiatives that improved operations and service delivery. These efforts have shown strong value and potential, and the AI Programme is set up to consolidate, scale, and embed AI more systematically. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building technology that makes a meaningful difference. You\'ll work across our entire technology stack to create solutions that are not only technically excellent but also user-focused and impactful. Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure full-stack applications that serve real user needs Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers to translate requirements into elegant technical solutions Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers Contribute to technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices Take ownership of features from conception through deployment and ongoing maintenance What we are looking for Strong collaboration and technical excellence; excited to build meaningful products as part of a team Strong experience with React (TypeScript), Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS Familiarity with Python for basic data analysis and Terraform for IaC Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar) and modern development workflows Solid understanding of software architecture principles, system design, and building resilient distributed systems Experience in Agile environments with iterative delivery Ability to tackle complex programming challenges with creative solutions Ability to balance performance, maintainability, and business requirements in technical decisions Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders Self-motivated problem-solver who identifies opportunities for improvement Takes ownership of deliverables and follows through on commitments Demonstrates reliability and trustworthiness in high-stakes environments Genuinely invested in team success and project outcomes beyond individual contributions Keen interest in generative AI and online trust and safety (bonus)Our employee benefits are based on a total rewards approach, offering a holistic and market-competitive suite of perks.
