Overview As an Ecolab Application Engineer, the primary responsibility is implementing tailored chemical treatment solutions for clients in the refinery and chemical process industry. This role involves delivering effective treatments, providing value-added services, and managing projects aimed at reducing the Total Cost of Operation (TCO) for clients. The application engineer should be available to address troubleshooting or queries related to Ecolab’s services and products. Refineries and chemical plants operate 24/7, so the engineer may be required to assist clients beyond regular office hours when necessary. Responsibilities Leading Chemical Treatment Programs: Implement chemical treatment programs at the client’s site, ensuring optimal performance and promptly addressing deviations from the treatment plan. Reporting and Communication: Provide regular chemical treatment program reports to clients, updating them on progress according to the agreed schedule. Inventory and Equipment Management: Manage chemical inventory and oversee stock levels and equipment replacement parts to ensure timely replenishment and seamless operations. Monthly Reviews: Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly review materials to clients to discuss program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Analytical Field Testing: Conduct on-site analytical tests to identify and rectify off-specification issues within the chemical treatment program. Proposal Development: Collaborate with managers to develop chemical treatment proposals, participate in new application start-ups and evaluations to address client needs. Value-Added Projects: Source and develop value-added projects with clients to reduce the Total Cost of Operation (TCO) with Ecolab’s products. Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong client relationships through frequent engagement and clear communication. Subcontractor Performance Management: Qualify, coordinate, and monitor subcontractor performance to ensure seamless delivery to the end customer’s expectations. Troubleshooting and Collaboration: Troubleshoot issues related to chemical treatment programs or Ecolab’s products and collaborate with team members to find solutions. Requirements Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with relevant industry experience, is highly preferred. Industry Comfort: Ability to support clients within the petrochemical industry. Communication Skills: Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills are essential. Reporting Proficiency: Ability to write and maintain clear, concise reports using standard laptop computers. Logical Thinking and Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to think logically, apply common sense, and make informed decisions. Multitasking and Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot problems, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain project schedules. Self-Motivation and Teamwork: Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working collaboratively within a team. Safety: Ability to comply with petrochemical industry and client safety requirements. Commuting: Role includes commuting to Jurong Island; a company car will be provided for transportation. Class 3 license required.
