As a Senior System Support Specialist (Solaris/Red Hat Linux) within Scotiabank's Global Technology Services (GTS) - Infrastructure Operations L2 UNIX team, your primary responsibility is to provide systems-level support for over 3,000 mission-critical application production and non-production servers running Linux and Solaris operating systems. You will be an integral part of a team that ensures the smooth operation of various business applications.In this role, you will be tasked with technical troubleshooting and providing solutions to complex issues that may arise. Your duties will also involve capacity planning, recommendations, and project work. Collaboration with team members is essential, as you will be interacting with multiple stakeholders to address various system-related challenges.This position requires occasional overtime for after-hours or weekend work, as well as rotational 24x7 on-call support. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines will be crucial to your success.Key responsibilities include participating in Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management processes, as well as addressing security vulnerabilities to comply with audit requirements. You will work extensively with Solaris, Linux operating systems, Oracle Sparc, x86 HW products, and various virtual hosts such as LDoms, VMware, and Cloud.Additionally, you will be involved in managing Veritas Clustering/Storage Foundation, RedHat clustering, Solaris ZFS, and EMC/Hitachi SAN storage products. Monitoring the environment for potential risks, implementing automation using tools like Ansible, and providing support during project management functions will also be part of your role.Your contribution to the identification, development, and maintenance of operational policies and procedures related to the Unix infrastructure will be crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of the system. Your dedication to ensuring high operational standards and your proactive approach to system monitoring and issue resolution will be highly valued in this role.,
