A leading global innovator in the electronics and sport equipment sector is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to join their expanding team in Singapore. What you'll do:
As a Senior R&D / Development Engineer based in Singapore, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your technical expertise will be instrumental in driving product innovation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing sophisticated mechanical components for cutting-edge products while collaborating with both local partners and international colleagues. You will be entrusted with transforming initial concepts into robust prototypes through hands-on simulations and testing. By engaging directly with suppliers throughout Asia-often on-site-you will ensure that every aspect of production aligns with exacting standards. Your ability to communicate effectively across cultures and disciplines will enable you to foster strong relationships within cross-functional teams. Success in this role means not only delivering high-quality hardware but also contributing valuable insights that shape strategic decisions for future product lines.
Design and develop advanced mechanical components for electronic products using industry-leading CAD software, ensuring all designs align with stringent product requirements.
Create comprehensive design specifications and detailed drawings that serve as the blueprint for manufacturing processes within the supply chain.
Lead the search for innovative components and technical solutions across the Asian market, staying ahead of emerging trends and technologies.
Conduct rapid simulations and prototyping activities with regional partners to validate hardware concepts efficiently before full-scale production.
Collaborate closely with global engineering teams to seamlessly integrate hardware, software, and mechanical elements into cohesive product offerings.
Ensure all developed components comply with relevant industry standards and certifications, maintaining the highest levels of safety and reliability.
Provide expert guidance to potential suppliers on meeting company requirements for approved supplier status, including engineering capabilities, tooling, equipment, prototype quality, capacity, and overall capability.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements that optimise quality, cost-effectiveness, and speed-to-market.
What you bring:
To excel in this role, you will bring a wealth of proven experience from sectors such as automotive, technology (consumer, robotics, connectivity) or sports equipment manufacturing. Your background should include substantial involvement in hardware design projects where attention to detail was paramount. You are adept at leveraging advanced CAD tools to translate ideas into manufacturable components while maintaining open channels of communication with both internal stakeholders and external partners. A deep familiarity with SEA supply chains allows you to anticipate challenges before they arise while your commitment to continuous learning keeps you abreast of technological advancements. Above all else, your passion for collaborative problem-solving sets you apart as someone who can nurture innovation while upholding the highest standards of quality.
Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as SolidWorks or similar platforms for complex mechanical design tasks.
Exceptional analytical skills enabling you to troubleshoot intricate issues quickly while proposing effective solutions.
Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities that facilitate seamless collaboration with diverse cross-functional teams.
Proven track record of working collaboratively within fast-paced, team-oriented environments where shared goals are prioritised.
Creative problem-solving skills that allow you to develop innovative solutions tailored to evolving market needs.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required for this position.
At least eight years' experience specialising in hardware design and part development
Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end product development processes from ideation through production release.
