Job Description

Our organization requires a Director of Purchasing to oversee the procurement process. This role entails ensuring seamless coordination with various departments to meet their purchasing needs in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, sourcing, and procuring materials, parts, supplies, and equipment while maintaining quality standards and specifications.

Additionally, the Director of Purchasing will be accountable for processing and monitoring delivery, purchase requisitions, orders, regular supplies, and perishable daily kitchen requirements.

This position also involves ensuring conformity to merchandise standards and specifications as required by management, tracking requisitions through proper channels, and following up on unapproved requisitions.

Furthermore, the Director of Purchasing will source new suppliers for existing products and services, negotiate prices without compromising quality standards, and maintain proper planning and control systems.

They will also ensure that store inventories do not exceed desired limits, track pro-forma invoices, clear documents in time, and keep follow-up files.

Moreover, this role requires staying up-to-date on market situations, seeking new sources or better prices continuously, focusing on key products, and periodically meeting with suppliers to discuss issues raised.

The ideal candidate should have a strong industry supplier network, high integrity, and meticulousness, along with excellent negotiation skills and resourcefulness.

Requirements

  • Min Diploma in related discipline with 3-5 years related experience and/or training in similar capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Resourceful with strong industry suppliers contacts.
  • Has high integrity and is meticulous.
  • Strong negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source new suppliers for existing products and services or potential new products regularly and endeavour to obtain goods at a competitive prices without sacrificing the desired quality standard.
  • Ensure conformity to standards and specifications of merchandise as required by the Management.
  • Track requisitions from originating departments and route them through proper channels.
  • Process and monitor delivery: purchase requisition, purchase order, regular supplies, perishable daily kitchen requirements.
  • Follow up on requisitions that are not returned after approval if it is more than seven (7) days from requisition first received.
  • Maintain follow up files.
  • Keep up to date on the purchase function and market situation.
