Research Scientist

YSQ International is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist with a strong background in new product development, formulation, organic and polymer chemistry, and organic synthesis to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the responsibility to develop and optimize new formulations, conduct proof-of-concept and application testing, lead product development projects from concept to commercialization. The Research Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify customer needs and develop innovative solutions that meet or exceed their expectations.Part B: Responsibilities and Duties • Design, develop, and optimize formulations for tobacco-based products.• Research and develop new products using chemicals, materials, surfactants, humectants, emollients, polysaccharides, emulsifiers, food additives, and excipients.• Lead product development projects from concept to commercialization, including formulation design, optimization, scale-up, and commercial launch.• Develop research plans to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed concept or idea. The plan should outline the specific objectives, research questions, methods, and anticipated outcomes of the study. Conduct experimental work to evaluate formulation prototypes, including formulation development, and optimization. Perform the stability testing or freshness studies and identify the root cause if any issues in the formulation. Able to conduct organic synthesis and chemical reactions in lab scale with minimal supervision. • Conduct application testing to evaluate product performance and identify areas for improvement.• Participate in sensory evaluation and providing the feedback on product performance. Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and business professionals to identify new opportunities for new product development. Conduct literature reviews and stay up to date with industry developments. Analyse and interpret data from experiments, develop reports, and communicate findings to internal teams and external stakeholders. Participate in patent applications and work closely with the legal team to protect the company's intellectual property. Establish and follow the safety protocols, lab regulations and records. Other ad-hoc tasks / projects assigned by Senior Management/Board member. Part C: Qualifications & Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Etc) • PhD / Masters / Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.• 3+ years of hands-on experience in organic & polymer chemistry, chemical reactions, organic synthesis, product development, formulation, and application testing.• Experience with patent applications and intellectual property protection is a plus.• Possess strong initiative and ability to prioritise tasks.
