About The Job
The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Legal Manager / Senior Legal Manager to join our dynamic team. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the legal affairs of the University, including contracts, and corporate secretarial matters. The Legal Manager will report to the General Counsel and work closely with the senior management team and various schools and departments.
What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
Review, draft, and negotiate agreements with various stakeholders, such as vendors, partners, and donors to ensure the university’s interests are protected and risks are minimized.
Advise on legal implications of university policies, procedures, and initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Provide strategic legal advice and support to faculty, and staff on a wide range of legal issues, including contracts, intellectual property, and employment law.
Handle corporate secretarial matters, such as preparing and maintaining Board meeting minutes, resolutions, and statutory records.
Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices to mitigate legal risks and enhance efficiency.
Update/maintain contract templates and assist in general contract management.
Conduct legal research and analysis, and prepare reports and memoranda.
Assist in providing training and guidance to staff on legal and compliance matters.
Job Requirements
Bachelor or above in law from a reputable law school. Qualification to practice Singapore laws is preferred.
At least five years’ experience of relevant working experience.
Strong understanding of Singaporean law and regulatory framework.
Strong knowledge and experience in corporate secretarial matters, such as board governance, company formation, and filing requirements. Candidates who hold a qualification from the Chartered Secretaries Institute of Singapore (CSIS), Singapore Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (SAICSA), or an equivalent body will be viewed favourably.
Excellent time management, interpersonal, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
