What the role is: The Terrestrial branch under the National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) of NParks is responsible for the conservation of terrestrial biodiversity, with a view to ensure long-term sustainability in Singapore. What you will be working on: The successful applicant shall be a core member of a team that provides technical inputs to agencies on impacts affecting terrestrial biodiversity. He/she will administer the biodiversity impact assessment process for terrestrial sites by (i) conducting field surveys or secondary research to assess the biodiversity of specific sites; and (ii) working with agencies to engage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultants to carry out the required environmental studies. The successful applicant will also be expected to spearhead, initiate and implement conservation projects and collaborate with research and tertiary institutions on research projects that contribute to terrestrial conservation. This position will also involve working closely with colleagues and other stakeholders to achieve NParks' terrestrial conservation goals. What we are looking for: Areas of study in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Life Sciences, Biology or related discipline is preferred Experience in biodiversity-related issues such as ecology or management policy Good presentation, negotiation and communication skills are essential Organized and resourceful team player who is able to work independently, including for fieldwork under varied conditions Experience and knowledge in environmental management, conservation policy, forest and freshwater ecology, animal and plant taxonomy, or Geographic Information System (GIS) will be advantageous Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
