Job Description

  • Position Title: Publishing Designer & Pre-Press Lead
  • Working Location: Bukit Merah
  • Working Hours: 5days (Mon-Fri: 9am-6.30pm)
  • Salary Package: Basic $3,000 - $4,000 + VB
  • Duration: Permanent
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and design book pages for consistent layouts and easy navigation.
  • Design and layout educational materials for print and digital formats, including covers and inside pages.
  • Use Adobe InDesign to typeset and format manuscripts, following style guidelines.
  • Work closely with editors, content developers, and authors to ensure designs are clear, engaging, correct, and suitable for the target group.
  • Review and adjust layouts to meet editorial and production standards.
  • Check text and layout for errors before production.
  • Oversee all pre-press steps, including file checks, proofing, and making print-ready files.
  • Coordinate with printers and vendors to ensure quality print results and on-time delivery.
  • Make sure all design work follows brand guidelines and project schedules.
  • Handle post-print tasks such as inspecting print samples, quality checks, organizing reprints, and archiving final files.
  • Keep clear communication with editorial and production teams for feedback, revisions, and changes to layouts.

  • Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Publishing, or a related field.
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
  • Good understanding of pre-press, colour management, and print production.
  • Knowledgeable of typography, layout, and visual order for print and digital work.
  • Detail-oriented with proofreading and formatting skills.
  • Able to plan, organize, and manage several projects and deadlines at once.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in educational publishing is an advantage.
  • Flexible with work schedules.
