As a Mechanical Engineer within the Energy Sector, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and optimizing mechanical systems and equipment used in power generation and gas processing facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical assets throughout their lifecycle. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Analysis : Design and analyze mechanical systems and equipment (e.g., turbines, compressors, pumps, tanks, heat exchangers) using engineering calculations and simulations to ensure performance and reliability.
Project Coordination : Coordinate with clients to gather key project inputs such as topographical data, soil reports, water analysis, and site data for accurate planning and design initiation.
Equipment Specification & Layouts : Develop plot plans, equipment layouts, interface points, and electrical load lists; prepare technical specifications, P&IDs, and design basis reports for mechanical packages.
Vendor Management : Collaborate with vendors for offer reviews, technical evaluations, purchase order input, and clarification of technical issues; expedite documentation and review of vendor drawings and manuals.
Standards & Documentation : Maintain engineering standards and documentation including bill of quantities, QA plans, civil assignment drawings, GA/fabrication drawings, and project closure reports.
Troubleshooting & Support : Conduct root cause analyses for mechanical failures, recommend corrective actions, and provide technical guidance to operations and maintenance teams.
Cross-functional Coordination : Work closely with electrical, civil, and instrumentation teams to ensure alignment in design specifications, interface points, and package integration.
Project Closure & Reporting : Complete all engineering deliverables, ensure mechanical interfaces are validated, and submit final project closure checklists and schedule variance reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is advantageous.
Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in process engineering within the power or gas industry
Proven hands on experience in detailed design of combined cycle power plant projects.
Track record of successfully acquiring and delivering projects on time and within budget
Proficiency in engineering software tools such as CAD, FEA, and CFD.
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for mechanical design, maintenance, and reliability.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Able to perform well under tight timeline and fast pace moving environment and multi-tasking ability with good self-discipline and working under minimum supervision as individual contributor or part of a cross functional team.
Good spoken and written English.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
