What you will be working on: We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of a secure, scalable, and high-performance biometric authentication system. This role focuses on integrating edge computing with cloud infrastructure to deliver robust, compliant, and efficient solutions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in cloud technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps practices, and a strong emphasis on security and biometric data handling, driving innovation and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, perform feasibility analyses, and design cloud architectures that meet business objectives and adhere to rigorous security and compliance standards. Architect and implement system solutions following industry best practices and well-architected principles, ensuring scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency. Develop, maintain, and optimize modular, reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using modern tools like Terraform for streamlined infrastructure management. Design and manage automated CI/CD pipelines with embedded security, compliance, and quality assurance checks to support rapid and reliable deployments. Implement advanced monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure infrastructure health, performance, and security. Lead the technical design and implementation of a biometric authentication system, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., PDPA). Design comprehensive testing strategies and requirements for hardware-software integration, including: 1. Developing test plans and acceptance criteria for biometric devices and edge computing components 2. Creating test cases covering functional, performance, security, and compatibility aspects 3. Establishing testing environments that simulate real-world conditions 4. Defining validation protocols for biometric accuracy and reliability 5. Drive hardware-software integration testing and validation, with particular focus on: - Biometric device integration and performance validation Edge computing component testing and verification End-to-end system integration testing Performance and reliability testing under various conditions Mentor junior engineers, foster knowledge sharing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals. Troubleshoot complex issues, optimise system performance, and implement cost-saving measures using cloud cost management tools. Drive the integration of edge computing with cloud services for secure, low-latency biometric data processing. Project-Specific Tasks: Design and implement edge device architectures for secure, efficient biometric data capture and processing. Develop secure data synchronisation mechanisms between edge devices and cloud infrastructure, ensuring low latency and high reliability. Build and maintain APIs for secure management of user data and biometric information, adhering to privacy regulations. Create an intuitive administrative dashboard for managing user privileges, access controls, and system configurations. Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging systems for real-time performance insights, security auditing, and compliance reporting. What we are looking for: Technical Requirements: Infrastructure as Code (IaC)Advanced expertise in infrastructure provisioning tools like Terraform, with experience in state management and modular design. Experience creating and maintaining reusable, well-documented infrastructure modules. Strong command of Git for version control, branching strategies, and collaborative IaC workflows. Security and Compliance Deep knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., CIS Benchmarks, NIST, ISO 27001) and their application in cloud environments. Expertise in biometric data protection regulations, including PDPA and other privacy standards. Experience implementing robust security controls and identity management solutions. Hands-on experience with zero-trust architecture principles and secure-by-design practices. Automation and DevOps Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions) for automated deployment pipelines. Proficiency in configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) for consistent system configuration. Expertise in implementing automated testing frameworks for infrastructure code validation. Experience with container orchestration platforms and microservices architectures. System Operations Proven ability to design and implement patch management, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation strategies. Experience automating backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes for business continuity. Proficiency in performance monitoring, cost optimisation, and resource management. Cloud Architecture Expertise in designing resilient multi-region architectures for high availability and fault tolerance. Experience integrating hybrid cloud environments and microservices-based architectures. Proficiency in API Gateway, service mesh, and event-driven architectures. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 6+ years of cloud engineering experience. In-depth understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., PDPA). Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Strong communication skills, with the ability to document technical designs and present solutions to diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications: AWS certifications and experience with AWS services Cloud platform certifications(e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional). Hands-on experience with biometric modalities (e.g., fingerprint, palm vein, facial recognition, iris scanning) and their integration into cloud systems. Background in designing and deploying edge computing architectures for real-time biometric processing. Familiarity with building administrative dashboards and APIs for user privilege management and access control.
