What will you be doing?As a Senior Master Mariner, you will be supporting Principal Surveyors & Business Line Manager in delivery of business line services and offer guidance to surveyors in execution of surveys and inspections. In addition, you will also: Familiarise with all aspects of all business line services and key deliverables. Carry out technical marine surveys such as H&M/P&I WP surveys, P&I investigations, P&I condition/JH surveys, pre-purchase inspections, On/Off Hire/ROB, and others. Assist in providing expert witness opinions, both written and oral, in court or arbitration. Assist and/or lead projects to accomplish the overall delivery of optimal solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs, and quality standards established by management and clients. Assist with the preparation of proposals for bids and tender inputs, developing new business, including initiating and winning proposals. Attend to casualties and determine the nature, extent and cause of damage. Estimate costs of repairs and compile reports for clients. Administer project documents and ensure that the results of the review are notified to interested parties. Coordinate and carry out inspections/consultancy scope and/or attend operations. Perform business development activities with P&I Clubs, H&M insurers, ship owners, technical managers, charterers, law firms, ports, and key stakeholders with local and international clients. Assist in marketing the business line and its services. Maintain a billable utilisation above 60%. Maintain and develop new and existing clients through appropriate propositions and liaison to optimise quality of service, business growth, and client satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned. Be responsible and accountable for Quality & HSE aspects within your region/department and projects; promote QHSE related activities within all operations and ensure compliance with all applicable company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems, and regulations. The position will be based in Singapore and requires the right to live and work in Singapore. Remote work may be required with flexible hours, but on-site (offshore) attendance is required. What are we looking for?To excel in this position, you will be a highly technical engineer. Additionally, you will bring the following: (STCW II/2), Master Mariner (Unlimited) or equivalent with significant survey/consultancy related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 7-10 years of relevant professional experience. Working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply them. Good decision‐making capability with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high quality work on time. Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. Assertive, buoyant, forward‐thinking with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. Well‐organized and self‐directed individual with strong business/commercial skills. Outgoing and pragmatic with strength of character, proactive and insightful, with good team‐management skills. Team player with excellent communication skills. Desirable Broad exposure to marine consultancy including warranty consultancy, inspections, audits, surveys, damage surveys and project management.
