Hitachi Energy Service is a trusted lifecycle partner, providing customers with secure, sustainable, and innovative service solutions, globally. Our Service offerings empower customers and partners to holistically manage the asset lifecycle—from start-of-life (Install & Commission) through services designed to strengthen operational life (Upgrade, Repair & Extend) to end-of-life activities (Replace & Decommission). Services can be procured stand-alone or as part of an EnCompass partnership agreement, adaptable to every O&M strategy. The net-zero transition begins with the Installed Base, and we continue to innovate across our Sustainability category, including our made-for sustainability offerings.
The Hub Strategy & Business Development Manager plays a key role in the strategic development of the Hub by owning the organic and inorganic business strategies for the region and markets. This role reports to the Asia Pacific Hub Manager and functionally to the Global BU Strategy & Innovation lead.
Role and focus
The role serves as a trusted resource for the Hub manager to develop markets in the region to meet and exceed the Global BU ambition of sustained 20% year-on-year growth by deploying and monitoring strategic initiatives. In close alignment with the Global BU Strategy & Innovation lead, the role will identify inorganic opportunities, deliver against mergers and acquisitions ambitions, and build strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate possesses a mix of operational and strategic experience at a regional level, with a proven track record of leading collaboration and innovation in a matrix organization, managing diverse teams and delivering results.
This role is open to being based in locations where Hitachi Energy is present in APAC; the successful candidate will continue to be based in their home location/country.
How you'll make an impact
You will translate Global BU growth ambition into bankable growth plans for the region, systematically analyzing customer spend, competitive landscape, and Hitachi Energy opportunities. You will develop fit-for-country strategic initiatives (covering Sales & Operations) together with the Local Service Units (LSUs), and own the deployment by continuously measuring performance indicators against set objectives.
You will identify potential M&A opportunities within the Hub, driving top-line growth, footprint expansion, and portfolio & capability innovation. You will assist the Global BU Strategy & Innovation Lead with deal flow management including due diligence, financial analysis, and risk assessments for potential acquisitions, and lead post-merger integration (PMI) to ensure seamless transition and value realization in line with strategic plans, working closely with Hub functions & LSUs.
You will foster a culture of innovation within the Service BU by bringing outside-in perspectives on market, technology, and portfolio. You will identify customer opportunities for business model innovation, pilot new solutions, develop an innovation funnel to engage with start-ups, promote portfolio innovation aligned with Service BU strategies, and develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and industry leaders. You will leverage partnerships to enhance service offerings and market reach and execute on partnership strategy as aligned with Digital Service Solution Leader (IoT) to build solution capabilities.
You will conduct financial modelling, company valuation, and due diligence to evaluate strategic opportunities, contribute to financial planning and budgeting for the business unit, analyze long-term market trends, and provide recommendations for business development. You will assist the Hub Manager and Global BU Strategy & Innovation Lead with management reports of strategic initiatives and support quarterly reporting, clearly communicating strategic storylines in structured presentations and reports.
You will work closely with other departments to ensure cohesive strategy execution, mentor and develop team members to build a high-performing innovation team, and promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Your background
You hold a master's degree.
Experience working within the Energy sector or within an OEM with a Service provision/Installed Base Management. Experience with top management consulting, private equity, or investment banking is a plus.
Significant and demonstrable experience in strategic planning, innovation management and M&A at a global, strategic level within a complex/matrixed organisation.
Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Thrives in managing through others in a matrix organisation.
Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
Flexible for business travel up to 25% annually within the APAC region.
