Credit Risk Analyst Arab Banking Corporation Singapore The Credit Risk Analyst will primarily be responsible for credit assessment, evaluating the credit risk of new business, the periodic risk review of existing clients, and portfolio review. He or she will also be responsible for independent controlling and monitoring of key aspects of the credit process.
Key Responsibilities
Assess complex financials, projections, and summarize industry and country risks.
Demonstrate good writing and presentation abilities to cover complex structures and credit obligors succinctly and clearly.
Improve quality and timeliness of CAFs, aligning with risk appetite, policies & procedures, with key risks and mitigants identified.
Make clear recommendations to the appropriate credit committee.
Timely submission of credit proposals in line with prescribed timeframe for submission to Credit Committees for approval.
Ensure good quality of credit risk management information presented to Credit Committees, ensuring consistency, quality, and objectivity of presentation.
Review inputs of rating models to ensure consistency of application, accuracy, and appropriateness of input factors to generate Risk Rating.
Business Support
Provide support in interpreting the Group Credit Policy and its related standards and procedures.
Consult on credit application forms (CAF) to ensure adequacy in explaining and mitigating risks associated with the transaction.
Ensure compliance of CAF with group policies and requirements, commenting on deficiencies and indicating a level of support.
Work with the Credit Analyst to ensure spreadsheets are compiled correctly, and covenants are complied with.
Maintain independence of the 2nd line of defense while providing timely support to the 1st line of defense in underwriting acceptable credit transactions.
Participate in risk-related projects.
Development and Training
Ensure appropriate training from internal or external sources.
Attend online or external/internal seminars or presentations from subject matter experts.
Credit Admin
Responsible for independent controlling and monitoring of key aspects of the credit process:
Prepare all facility and security documentation in accordance with credit approvals and department procedures.
Review routine facility documentation for existing and new facilities.
Ensure receipt and satisfaction of conditions precedent prior to facility limit activation and utilization.
Track, follow-up, and report the status of conditions subsequent documents, highlighting exceptions to the line manager.
Manage all security & documentation associated with the credit portfolio.
Build and maintain a portfolio-wide database to capture day-to-day management of security and collateral.
Monitor security/collateral, documentation, financial & non-financial undertakings.
Ensure timely activation of limits for utilization and communication to stakeholders.
Prepare periodic and MI reports for the department.
General Responsibilities
Perform tasks predominantly as a checker and maker as needed.
Assume the role of a joint custodian in safe custody management as nominated.
Ensure adherence to all processes and procedures at all times.
Escalate risks/issues through the line manager for timely resolution.
Participate in planned and ad-hoc departmental projects.
Requirements
Postgraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Accountancy, or Business Administration with a strong foundation in analytical, statistical, and quantitative techniques.
5-7 years’ experience in banking, with substantial experience in Credit functions across various products and markets.
3-5 years’ experience in credit admin or similar function, with large regional or global financial institutions.
