Singapore Citigroup Inc. Full time

Business Overview: APAC Commodities Business Unit Managers responsibilities include facilitating strategic initiatives within the Commodities business while ensuring a robust control environment is maintained. As such this role not only requires familiarity with Commodities products/business but also the ability to identify and mitigate operational risks for the Commodities business by working with a broad variety of stakeholders across Legal, Risk, Finance, Operations, Technology and Compliance. The candidate will report to the APAC Commodities Business Unit Manager. Responsibilities This role will cover the Commodities business across client jurisdictions in 14 different APAC countries. The role is closely tied to the front line business and involves a variety of day-to-day queries, investigations and ongoing projects across the full range of areas that impact the business. Examples are overseeing sales production & trading issues, stepping in when issues are not being resolved and there is a risk to the business operations, identifying risk & control gaps and driving closure of the same and helping the business to get organised around delivering its strategic goals and new business initiatives including staying abreast of external market developments and assessing impacts to the business. This is very much a 'spider in the web' role which interacts with almost all functional areas that deal with the sales & trading desks, including other sales & trading desks within the firm. The candidate should be able to appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm\'s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency. The role of a business manager is varied and unpredictable and therefore requires an ability to problem solve and leverage knowledge of operational processes to diagnose and resolve items in a fast-paced environment. It is crucial that the candidate is able to 1) understand the core problem that needs to be solved, 2) understand why that problem is relevant and important, and 3) assess where this issue might be affecting others across the team and organisation. This role requires an ability to juggle multiple competing deadlines, meet daily requirements as well as progressing longer-term deliveries within stated timelines. It is therefore crucial for the candidate to be able to work well under pressure, possess strong task-management skills and to be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Business managers are often the hub of communication tying various parts of the organization together to solve problems. The candidate should demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Communication is particularly important in this role given its many touchpoints and proximity to the day-to-day running of the sales & trading desks. As part of the Business Unit Management team, there will also be opportunities to participate in cross-business projects and initiatives allowing the candidate to work with members of the wider Commodities team and other parts of the firm.
